We are gathering momentum. And as we continue to grow, we are now embarking on phase 2 of our planned recruitment. If you want to join us we have the ambition and agenda for you to realise your big ideas, help communities thrive, and have impact beyond compare.

While you will be leading two councils, we flourish as one team – working seamlessly together. We are looking for the bold. The inquisitive. Those who want to be part of something truly transformational. It’s time to build a ground breaking legacy, and have your career-defining moment.

Roles:

Assistant Director – Planning Policy and Development

£73,710 - £77,983
Bodicote/Towcester

Visionary, dedicated and ambitious – that’s you. And this is your chance to play a vital role in the transformation of two councils moving as one.

You’ll bring an expert touch to leading our planning policy and development teams, including areas such as planning enforcement, design and conservation, and building control. It’s about providing thousands of people with the quality, value for money services they deserve - while always keeping our vision and values in mind. Positive and collaborative, you’ll foster beneficial relationships across the councils. That way, we’ll be more united, working towards the same goals.

An inspiring leader, you’ll motivate your teams to excel and achieve incredible results for our communities. It means making sure everyone has clear direction, with all the support they need to go above and beyond. As part of this, you’ll take pride in guaranteeing our high standards never waver.

With your proven track record, developing spot-on planning strategies will come naturally. But it’s your business acumen that really sets you apart. It’s why people of all levels will trust and rely on your advice. Degree-qualified (or equivalent), you’ll also bring substantial experience in a range of planning and development matters. No matter what, you’ll champion best practice and look to the future.

Assistant Director – Economy and Regeneration

£73,710 - £77,983
Bodicote/Towcester

This is your chance to lead major regeneration programmes across two, united councils. Yes, it’s a big challenge. But that’s exactly what you’re looking for.

Forward-thinking and visionary, you’ll boost our districts’ economic growth by accessing investment opportunities and providing expert strategic leadership. It means you’ll oversee the delivery of house building programmes and infrastructure projects – all to enable social regeneration. So it’s a role of real importance.

With inspirational leadership your teams will flourish, as will results. But what’s key is giving the support and guidance they need to truly shine. Working collaboratively comes naturally to you, as does fostering beneficial relationships with people at all levels. In fact, you’ll make it a priority to keep our two councils on the same page, and champion joint working.

It’s because of your clear, innovative direction that our communities will thrive, and receive high-quality, value for money services. You’ll also be credible, experienced, and excited about the possibilities of change. Degree-qualified (or equivalent), your expertise will speak for itself. And you’ll have a proven track record of managing economic development programmes to boot.

Assistant Director – Performance and Transformation

£65,164 - £69,437
Bodicote/Towcester

Two councils. One transformative direction. This is your chance to bring a remarkable vision to life, giving it a sense of optimism and purpose.

A proven strategic thinker, you’ll take charge of delivering development programmes and transformation plans - including our performance management, business planning and customer insights. To do this, you’ll need to make sure there’s a consistent focus across the two councils and our partners. But most of all, you’ll help ensure the very best outcomes for thousands of people throughout Cherwell and South Northamptonshire.

Motivational and supportive, you’ll effectively manage your teams to achieve sustainable yet outstanding results. It means giving them clear direction, and access to all they need to reach their full potential. In fact, you’ll bring a strong track record of creating a performance management culture that drives on-going improvements.

Thanks to your experience of applying commercial judgement, you know how to make cost-effective, informed decisions. It’s seen you forge successful partnerships with a range of internal and external bodies, including governmental, private and voluntary organisations. Degree-qualified (or equivalent), you’ll also bring substantial experience of leading and successfully implementing large scale transformational change programmes.

Assistant Director – Customer and IT Services

£65,164 - £69,437
Bodicote/Towcester

This is about people. About understanding what they need. About placing their experience at the core of our digital progress. As Assistant Director, you’ll be fired up by this challenge and the chance to play a leading role in our transformation. And you’ll have the energy and commitment to create useful, valued services.

It all begins with IT and customer services based on our residents’ changing needs. These will be the plans that guide our digital transformation programme. A customer contact centre. Self-service web transactions. Every single project will begin and end with the people who live in our region. You’ll also see that IT is equally customer-focused – ready to partner colleagues at any time in any team.

Yes, you need experience of leading both IT and Customer Service. But knowing your subject is only part of the story. We’re looking for bold and confident; for inspirational impact – for leaders who’ll give everything to help communities prosper. Success means encouraging teams, connecting with partners and making smart, game-changing decisions. It means applying business acumen, setting targets and making sure we achieve them.

Assistant Director – Housing

£73,710 - £77,983
Bodicote/Towcester

Jobs, families, futures: they all depend on having a home. This is why your role as Assistant Director of Housing is so very important. You’ll make sure we have enough homes for everyone, both today and tomorrow. That means working with partners and developers to secure and create more properties.

It also means running a Housing Service that’s nothing less than fantastic. One that’s innovative and good value, with an unwavering focus on people. This is where the Service can really make an impact. Because as part of the Wellbeing Directorate, we can strengthen Housing’s links with Leisure, Sports and Communities. You’ll explore the possibilities and thrive on the opportunity to bring improvements. We want healthy, happy residents. And so do you.

You’ve already got the right background as well as the credentials: senior-level Housing experience and a Chartered Institute of Housing Professional qualification. That makes you a specialist in your chosen field. You’ve advised at Executive level and you’re keen to do the same here. You’ll also be equipped to lead national schemes for homelessness, regeneration and more. That takes tremendous energy, vision and drive. Happily, you’re the kind of leader who’s got more than enough to spare.

If you can bring all this, take the next step and join our newly restructured team.

Assistant Director - Property, Investment and Contract Management

£73,710 - £77,983
Bodicote/Towcester

We think our area’s amazing – and we think you will too. Because across the region, there’s tremendous potential for investment. With your go-getting, future-facing, achievement-hungry nature, you’ll jump at the chance to investigate promising opportunities.

Residents, communities and Councils – we want them all to enjoy the economic and social benefits. That means getting the most from these and our existing assets. You’ll set the strategies, manage our capital programme and handle all the contracts. At the same time, you’ll be managing our Property, Investment and Contract Management function.

We need value for money; outstanding services; safe, compliant assets; and professional advice. First rate investment expertise is a start, but we need more than that. To join us, you need a track record in this field and membership of MRICS, RIBA or another relevant professional body. But what’s really needed is the knowledge to manage budgets, the vision to see possibilities and the energy to inspire. With keen commercial judgement, you’ll be a credible leader and a respected figure for partners.

If you can bring all this, take the next step and join our newly restructured team.
